Bunger Surf Shop was founded in 1962 by Long Island’s Charlie Bunger Sr., who was inspired to try shaping surfboards in his basement after watching surfers at Gilgo Beach. Today, it’s a thriving family business with Charlie Sr.’s son Tommy shaping all of the boards while Charlie Jr. and sister, Theresa, run the shop. (Their mother, who’s now 82, does much of the paperwork.) The Bungers are proud to serve the surfing community, maintaining their legacy of quality craftsmanship.
